Missouri NEA R.A. delegates elect state officers

During the Missouri NEA Representative Assembly April 27-28, local association delegates cast their ballots to elect new officers of the state association.

MNEA Pres. Charles E. Smith and Vice Pres. Brent Fullington have each served the maximum of two three-year terms. Prior to being elected as the leader of the association, Smith, a teacher on leave from Center School District, served as MNEA vice president for six years after serving seven years as an NEA Director. Fullington, a teacher on leave from Springfield School District, was NEA Director for three years before his current position. Smith and Fullington will continue their service through July 2019. NEA Director Lisa Kickbusch will also term-out this summer.

MNEA President-Elect Philip Murray begins his term Aug. 1, 2019. Phillip Murray is a teacher at Poplar Bluff Middle School in Poplar Bluff, MO. Murray currently serves on the MNEA Board of Directors and holds the position of Poplar Bluff MNEA president. He served as NEA Director and held various other positions at the state and local levels. Murray will be attending the NEA R.A. July 2-7 in Houston, TX as a state delegate.

MNEA Vice President-Elect Rebeka McIntosh begins her term Aug. 1, 2019. Rebeka McIntosh is a teacher at the Center for Alternative Instructional Resources in the Grandview C-4 School District. McIntosh has served on the MNEA Board of Directors and as Chair of the MNEA Bylaws Committee. She served two terms on the NEA Sexual Orientation/Gender Identification Committee and was a Regional Director for the NEA GLBT Caucus. She is currently serving her first term as NEA Director. To determine who will fill her open NEA Director position, delegates will hold a special election at the MNEA R.A. in November. McIntosh will be attending the NEA R.A. July 2-7 in Houston, TX as an ex-officio delegate.

Paul Guess, a teacher at Jacobs Education Center in the North Kansas City School District, will begin his term as NEA Director Sept. 1, 2019. Guess is also currently serving as the president of the North Kansas City NEA. He has served on several state committees and has held various local association positions. Guess will be attending the NEA R.A. July 2-7 in Houston, TX as a state delegate.
