Professional Learning Academy - Graduate Courses

Online Courses through Central Methodist University


Earn up to nine graduate credits per year for $225.

For one low annual fee of $225, Missouri NEA members may take one course each term (fall, spring and summer) to complete up to three graduate courses in 12 months. Or they may take two courses in the summer and skip either the fall or spring semester. Each course is two or three graduate credit hours, so educators can earn from six to nine graduate credits. Choose from 17 self-paced, online courses for professional growth or salary advancement. MNEA partners with Central Methodist University and Virtual Education Software to offer these courses. We recommend members check with their school districts to be sure these courses will be accepted for salary schedule credit before signing up.

MNEA Online Training Series 

The Missouri NEA Professional Development Series’ live online format allows you to ask questions and engage with others without having to spend money on travel and lodging. Presentations are ideal for individuals or groups. You can participate anywhere using a computer with an Internet connection. If your computer has a speaker and microphone, that’s all you need. If not, you can call a toll-free number for the audio.

The date listed is the day the training will be live. Many of the live trainings are recorded and can be watched later anytime. The recorded trainings are listed as "On Demand Presentations."

Organizing Tip: Choose at least one session that works with your school dismissal schedule. Invite your members (or all staff if part of your organizing plan) to participate together in the online session. The more notice you can give people, the better. Even if only a few attend, publicizing the event provides your local association visibility.

    Centering your K-12 science instruction around phenomena can build student engagement and understanding.     Building Slides for Accessibility: Why and How
    Explore best practices for digital-visual accessibility. The majority of our time will be spent learning about practical tools and strategies you can implement immediately and efficiently into your lessons. The tool we will focus on for this presentation is Google Slides, but the principals can be applied widely to any digital content.
